Everything is a pain in the ass when you have bed bugs

...even writing blog posts.

I never thought these little bastards would be so exhausting. I hate living out of suitcases. Every piece of clothing I own is covered with bugs. This morning, I shook out the one clean work shirt that I thought I had salvaged from the infestation. I flipped up the collar to put a tie around it, and there were somewhere between 50 and 100 bugs, some larvae, some adult, crawling around in the crease. This was the cleanest shirst I had. It is Thursday. I've been wearing shirts just like this one all week. I leave for work at 7:15. I have found bugs crawling down my sleave and onto my hand at 2:00 in the afternoon. Clothes can be thrown in a washing machine, though. Unfortunately, keyboards, suitcoats, beds, and houses pose larger problems. I would ask if I could stay at your place, but why? So I can infect your house with the "clean" change of underwear I bring with? Bah.

From a pink-walled half-office in Rosemont, IL

Sorry, but there won’t be any pics in this blog. I’m at work and don’t have all of the crap I would need to get them onto the internets. "Work" is ------ -----------, a civil engineering firm. Not the coolest place on the planet. It’s not all bad, though. In fact, moving dirt, or at least telling people whereto and how much to move, can be mildly stimulating. No – I never intended to do this, and I don’t intend to do it for long. You can hold me to that. Please.

Jenn and I are buying a loft. It’s official. We close on the 29th of this month and we’re pretty f-ing excited. No, not just about all of the f-ing we’re going to be doing once we have our own place (she’s going to shoot me for saying that – watch closely for the upcoming revision) but because I really think it’s a cool place. I’ll put the link for the virtual tour at the end of this post if I remember. Ooh, then there will be pics.

Here’s our new address should you decide to send us x-mas cards or bombs or anything:

1305 S. Michigan #709
Chicago, IL 60605

If you are a creep and look at it on google maps, you’ll just see that parking lot that was there last year. Sucker. I just had an epiphany as I walked past a bowl of stale banana chips: food is awesome. I must be feeling better.

Jenn just started her new job. Yep, she left all of the losers at the University of Chicago (and that does not mean Dan, Jeff, Marielle, etc, of course) to go work at Northwestern’s lakeshore campus. It sounds pretty awesome. On a nice day, she can walk to work from our new place. The only downside is that she will work in a gyno lab and might have to check out vaginas once in a while. Downside? (revision). There are a bunch of benefit-type perks that make it really kick-ass, too.

We’ll have a housewarming party and all of that stuff. You’re invited. “The whole internet is invited.”

Does anyone know of a structural, mechanical, or civil engineering firm in the loop? More importantly, do you know anyone that works there? Here’s the link:

You’ll have to click on the link that takes you to “1305 S. Michigan” “most recent” after that, there’s an option at the top left called “Virtual Tour.” http://mlsni.connectmls.com/servlet/QL?D=34I2G1J90OOII70NCJG
